1954 Tonka Hardware Hank Stores and Warehouses Private Label Box Truck | |
This truck was specifically ordered for the Hardware Hank Stores and Warehouses Chain of stores from the Minnesota Area. Thier motto was "The Best for Less" This is a terrific looking Box truck in the Red and Blue coloring similar to the Star-Kist Box Van from the same year. It made sense Hardware Hank stores would have contacted Tonka for a private label truck because Tonka was based in Mound Minnesota at the same time. Other companis like Dunwell, Minnitoys, Smith MIller and Buddy L made Private label toys for businesses that desired them. 1954 was the first year for the Box Van. It was only shown in the 1954 Look Book as a "Star-Kist" Van Red and Blue. A few rare private label versions were made like this Hardware Hank Van. |
