|1954 Tonka Hardware Hank Stores and Warehouses Private Label Box Truck
This truck was specifically ordered for the Hardware Hank Stores and Warehouses Chain of stores from the Minnesota Area. Thier motto was "The Best for Less" This is a terrific looking Box truck in the Red and Blue coloring similar to the Star-Kist Box Van from the same year. It made sense Hardware Hank stores would have contacted Tonka for a private label truck because Tonka was based in Mound Minnesota at the same time. Other companis like Dunwell, Minnitoys, Smith MIller and Buddy L made Private label toys for businesses that desired them.
1954 was the first year for the Box Van. It was only shown in the 1954 Look Book as a "Star-Kist" Van Red and Blue. A few rare private label versions were made like this Hardware Hank Van.

The rear doors on the Box Van opened up to allow for loading and unloading of neccessary daily cargo for the days imaginary delivery route.
